DAML+OIL (March 2001)

This directory contains the DAML+OIL (March 2001) language released by the Joint Committee on 27 March 2001. It replaces the DAML+OIL (December 2000) release.

Documents in this release include:

• daml+oil - the revised language specification
• daml+oil-ex - a revised example ontology
• daml+oil-ex-dt - XML Schema datatype definitions used in the above example ontology
• daml+oil-walkthru - an annotated version of the example ontology
• reference - systematic reference description of all the language elements
• differences-daml+oil - an explanation of the changes from DAML+OIL (December 2000)
• model-theoretic-semantics - revised Model-Theoretic Semantics
• axiomatic-semantics - revised Axiomatic Semantics (from August 2001)

A reformatted version of this release subsequently submitted to W3C as a starting point for the Web Ontology Working Group is available here. The submission was required to define a different namespace http://www.w3.org/2001/10/daml+oil, but the Joint Committee recommends that tool developers and other users continue to use the http://www.daml.org/2001/03/daml+oil namespace.
